Jim's May Journal

A couple of days ago my alma mater intermediate school (Joaquin Moraga) asked me to speak to students for career day.   I must admit that talking in front of a group of people is not my favorite thing to do.   But, I am enjoying it and becoming a little more comfortable each time. It is a good way to give back a little and very rewarding to see the kids reactions.

One of my messages to the kids at JM was when you are considering a career, do your best to find something you enjoy and are passionate about.   Not an easy task but at the same time I truly believe there is at least one, if not a few, things out there we are drawn to and have a natural love and ability for.   It's just a matter of searching and unlocking it.

Between mixing the new record we went out and played a few shows.   As always, I was anticipating the trip to New Orleans the most.   Immergluck and I took an early flight in from our gig in Florida and went straight to Mothers.   There we gorged out on Crawfish Etouffee Omelets with Grits, hot Buttermilk Biscuits, Shrimp and Oyster Po'Boy's (hold the bread) and for dessert (dessert for breakfast??? Hell yes!!)   Bread Pudding.   This would be the beginning of three days of non-stop eating and drinking.   Only one day of drinking for me, which is quite enough when you are trying to keep up with Immer-Palooza.   Oh yeah, we had a gig in there somewhere too, it was cool....Eh... heh heh... yeah!

I am excited for all of you to hear the new record and I think it is going to be a good one.   At the same time when you are so close to something it is very easy to lose perspective.   However, I think that all of us feel that we have created a solid and diverse body of work.

Looking forward to hitting the road for the AAA ballpark tour.

Cheers, Jim.
