Anyone who was at the show in Denver will tell you, it was just like old times.   The band was in fine form, the crowd was rockin and Adam was, well.... Adam.   We are looking forward to doing it all again in Las Vegas with Stevie Wonder.   Now I am a huge Stevie fan from his work back in the day but after my last experience opening up for him in NY I am more than a little wary. It was early days in my Sheryl Crow tenure and the word was out that we were opening up for Stevie Wonder at Madison Square Garden to do a show for American Express.   I was not only going to have the opportunity to open up for one of my idols, but after our set I was going to be up front to watch the man himself perform.   Almost immediately after our last song I quietly slipped into the crowd and found a good place up front with my arms resting on the stage.   I was stunned from the moment they walked out as I looked up to see Stevie wearing the brightest red suit known to man.   He looked a lot like a pimp straight out of the Players Ball.    I tried to get over it and quickly gave him the benefit of the doubt because, well you know.... it's not like he can see his clothes.   I don't remember what song they opened with, but I do remember that the band was missing chord changes left and right.    I wondered if they had rehearsed at all, as no one (except for maybe Stevie) seemed to know the forms.   Song after song it went from bad to worse when finally Stevie broke out alone and started to riff and improv on a new tune.   My ears began to perk up a little until he came in with the first verse.   (Please sing this with your best Stevie Wonder accent)   "American Express,   You know you are the best, American Express."   This concluded my concert experience for the evening as I turned away devastated and unable to bear another minute.

On May 21st in Las Vegas I will be on the side of the stage once again and we will try this thing one more time.   At the very least it should be a little too hot for the red pimp suit.

Bye for now, Jim.
