Jim's Journal

June 11, 2004

Hi everybody welcome to the website. I need to thank Marsha for putting all of this together and I have to say it's pretty cool having a website!!

We just finished a week of TV in New York, I hope some of you caught a few of the shows. It was hectic but a lot of fun, and as always, I love spending time out there.   If you have never been to New York I urge you to go someday. The city has so much to offer, but my favorite thing to do there is still just walk around the different neighborhoods and take it all in.

Unfortunately, on the last night my enjoyable trip came to a crashing halt when I ate some bad food.   I was sick all nightand finally stopped puking   at about 4:30 am, just in time to leave the hotel for the Today Show.   We played four songs without a commercial break but more importantly I played four songs without yaking.

Between our last tour and the NY yaking trip (not to be confused with the NY Yankees) I managed to do a few gigs with Chuck Prophet.   We flew my buddy Jerry Flowers out   as well and recorded a couple of songs for Chucks new record.   Jerry was the bass player when I was playing with the Dixie Chicks, he is an amazing singer as well. You can hear him in all of his glory in the audio section of the site on a song called, Barely Breathing.   I recorded this song with Jerry's band Pinch.   Jerry is one bad Muther..."shut your mouth"

That brings me back to Chuck Prophet who is another bad ass.   I cannot tell you all how much I love playing with Chucky P.    Sometimes I wish there was two of me, one out playing with Counting Crows and the other playing with Chuck.   I suppose if that was possible, I would have to make a third me to play with my man Ben Folds.   Uh-oh, I think I see a pattern forming here.   You obviously can't do everything you want, but I am very happy with where I am at and with the choices I have made.

Okay, good for me.   So, we are leaving soon for a week in Europe to make up for the canceled Brussels show with some London Dylan action, and yet another Dublin show added for your listening and viewing pleasure.   Then we head back to the good ol' U.S.A. for five weeks of shows at some very famous venues such as, Soaring Eagle Casino and Konocti Harbor.

I promise to check in from the road with some exciting tales of my late nights after the gigs eating food and watching ESPN.   Oh well, at least there is Immergluck and Dan Vickrey.

Talk to you soon!
Your pal, JimDog.
