February 2007 Journal--Happy New Year!

Jim's view from the top-- a winter day in NYC

And now ladies and gentleman, the latest and greatest.

I will do my very best to not turn this journal into a royal bitch fest but it won't be easy. We have done some really good work but a terrible illness has managed to work its way around the entire band. I won't bother you with the gory details but there will be more than just blood on these tracks!! Throw in the freezing temperatures here in New York, the fact I have not seen my girl in twenty five days (and counting) and it is safe to say I am ready to go home..... Uh-oh, still one more week to go! Of course, I do not need to be told how lucky I am playing in a rock band making a record in NY. All of us have the ability (no matter how fortunate we are) to feel a little sorry for ourselves at times. I guess it's okay once in a while as long as you keep it in perspective. I only need to think about the people in Iraq or the poor unfortunate souls in Florida and that seems to get me back on track rather quickly.

A couple of days ago we moved out of the big studio and into a smaller room for overdubs. This is usually the period when things slow down for me considerably because I only have to poke my head in the studio once in a while for background vocals, percussion, and a few opinions. That is not the case this time around as we have moved a small recording rig over to Adam's house and continue to work on new songs while various individuals make the short trek to over dub hell. I was a little skeptical of this set up at first but it has worked out quite well and is yielding a lot of good things. It will also no doubt help the next phase of recordings run faster and smoother. My man David Bryson is doing a stand up job producing these demos and if he is not careful more than a few songs will show up on the record as is.

That's about all I have for you at this time as I should be getting back to work. This has been a super productive trip and we are getting ever closer to our desired destination-finally putting out a new frickin' CD!

Cheers, Jim
