Greetings. Just wanted to check in really quickly between traveling.

First of all, thanks to Marsha and everyone that sent me a birthday wish. It was nice to hear from so many people. I really appreciate all the
support, it put a big ol' smile on my face.

I have just returned from the first rehearsal for the Counting Crows Symphony show. We got together with arranger Vince Mendoza and went over the tunes. I felt very compelled to let everyone know that is interested how amazing it sounded. Vince has done excellent work arranging big bands and as a composer with artist such as Bjork and Joni Mitchell. After our first rehearsal with him I was convinced we could not have found a better person to put this thing together. Besides being an extremely talented individual, it was obvious Vince has an understanding for this band and the music. He came up with some very interesting and different yet musical ideas. He managed to use what we do well and at the same time take the songs to another level. During the rehearsal I found myself totally engrossed in the arrangements while simultaneously freaking out on how stunning our lead singer sounded in this context. All of this besides the fact that so many of these great songs lend themselves to this type of treatment.

I don't want to over hype it but I think we have stumbled upon something very magical and those of you that are going should really enjoy it. My guess is that this will not be the only performance and those of you who cannot make it will eventually have other chances in different cities to attend.

All the best, Jim.
